Preparing for the 2010 Isle of Man TT races!!!
As stated in the press release I am in desperate need of donations and sponsors for the TT. The TT is a once in a lifetime opportunity for an average guy like myself with an average day job. I can't let this opportunity pass me by! Any and all donations will be used for the sole purpose of funding my trip to race in both supersport classes at the 2010 TT in June. No donation is too small, $5-500, anything helps and is appreciated more than can be expressed! Donations can be made via paypal through my website on the donations page.
Please don't hesitate to contact me via the contact page here on my website with any questions, words of support, or whatever else! Thanks for visiting and wish me luck!!!
Winter Riding!
However that doesn't mean I stop riding! I competed at the Timonium Indoor Flattrack races back in December with much better results than last year, making it to the semi-finals in both classes I entered aboard my Honda CRF150r. Better yet, I had a blast!
Now I've begun riding at the indoor go-kart track in Dulles, VA, AllsportsGP. We ride once or twice a month on Sunday mornings thanks to the track owner and Monty W. They put on a great event and everyone has a blast. It is great to get the opportunity to ride with friends and some of the fastest roadracers in the country that also go there! Here you'll see a picture of me backing the bike in a bit into T1, wish the angle of the picture was better as everyone would get sideways like crazy going in here! FUN!
Ulster Grand Prix 2009
!!RESULTS!!
Well, I made it back from my trip to Ireland to race in the 2009 Ulster Grand Prix. I returned safe and sound but more importantly I had an experience of a lifetime!!
I couldn't have asked for a better time racing at the UGP. Racing on a "real" road course for the first time is VERY unnerving and you find yourself questioning what you're doing quite a few times but all I can say is that the risk was well worth the rewards! The weather held out on everyday we rode and the circuit was just plain fun to ride.
My results were better than I ever could've anticipated. On Thursday's Irish National roadraces I managed a TOP 10 in the first race (600-750cc) and 23rd place in the second race (600-1000cc). These races were the equivalent of a WERA National back home, with quite a few top riders mixed in the front as usual.
On Saturday I participated in my first professional race of my career, the Ulster Grand Prix. I guess I took a big leap doing this on a "real" road course! This is the equivalent of an AMA race back home. I qualified no problem but still started in the back. I had a blast in these races and riding with the pro's really helped me pick up speed around the course. I finished 26th in UGP 600 Supersport race 1 which was about last but who freakin cares!! Then I finished 21st in the UGP 600 Supersport race 2 and had a great battle with another rider for the entire race. I had such an awesome time in both races and couldn't have asked for a better experience.
I want to thank Mark Hamilton of Irish Bike Magazine for providing me with the Yamaha R6 that I rode, it was flawless all week. Also I would like to thank all my sponsors, without them this trip and my 2009 season wouldn't have been possible.
Recent News
9/20/09: The season wrapped up in a great way this weekend at Summit Point Raceway. I was only able to make it down for the Saturday races due to funds and I was riding for 2 teams since I don't have a bike of my own for the rest of the season. First race was the Heavyweight Expert Solo. I had wanted to do the Middleweight Expert Solo but myself and the endurance team owner that I ride for were sharing the endurance bike (Yamaha R6) so we each picked a race. I went out and got an Awesome start and settled into 3rd place on lap 1. By about lap 5 I began battling with another rider on a 600, we battled for the entire race, I ran the fastest lap time for a 600 in the race but at the end my bike's clutch went out on me and I did all I could to finish 5th. I had a great race but know I coul've had 4th if it weren't for a fried clutch. I then had my first opportunity to race a true vintage bike thanks to Joe Clancy. The bike was an early 70's Honda CB350. I got the holeshot and lead the entire race, ran the fastest lap of the race and won by a good margin. I was stoked!! I had a really great time riding the vintage bike and wouldn't mind trying it again.
8/2/09: Well, round 7 of the WERA National Endurance was quite the race! Yesterday I raced with Team Rat Rocket endurance in the Middleweight Superstock class in the WERA National Endurance 6 hour race. This was my first ever endurance race and only the team's second endurance race ever. The race started off excellent, by the time I got on the bike we had a 1 lap lead over TVR136 and Dalke Motorsports had retired due to mechanical problems. We knew then that we had an excellent chance at our first National Endurance win as those were the only two teams that we had to really watch for in this race and they have been endurance racing for many years. I maintained our 1 lap lead throughout my 1 hour stint. When I came in from my ride, the team decided to change a front, problems ensued during the front wheel change which caused us to lose 3 laps to TVR136 and ultimately the race. We made up 1.5 laps on TVR136 but still finished the race about a half lap down on them. Still the team was ecstatic for the 2nd place in only our second endurance race ever and we are excited to try it out again.
6/9/09: The third round of my abbreviated 2009 schedule at Summit Point Raceway is in the books. This weekend I tested the new Continental DOT race tire for DragonKnee Racing. This is a new tire to the USA market. Overall performance and longevity of the tires were impressive as the same set was used all weekend. I managed to finish within the top 10 in all his races even after suffering multiple mechanical gremlins all weekend from his front brake seizing up to his quickshifter not working all weekend. All weekend I ran about 2 seconds off his pace in April at Summit Point. We brought the bike home in one piece so it was not a bad weekend, just not the best.
4/5/09: This weekend at Summit Point Raceway, WV proved to be another excellent beginning to the year. After a hard fought race I secured a solid 5th place finish in the 1000cc Superbike race and was the top finishing 600 in the class. I also managed the third fastest lap time of the race, faster than the two riders in front of me on 1000's!
